The 3 dartboard materials.
Plastic, cork or sisal: your board's material changes everything — the feel, the lifespan and the type of darts. Here's how to choose.
Plastic — the electronic board
A plastic board with holes, played with soft-tip darts. Often electronic: it counts the scores for you. Great to start out and play safely, but the feel differs from a traditional board.
Cork — the entry level
A board made of pressed cork, played with steel-tip darts. Cheap and perfect to get into steel-tip without a big budget. Downside: cork punctures and wears out fast, the marks stay — a short lifespan.
Sisal — the best (bristle board)
A board made of compressed sisal fibre, the standard in clubs and competition, with steel-tip darts. Its magic: it is self-healing — the fibres close back up after each dart, no permanent hole, and it lasts for years. The best choice to progress seriously.
Whatever your board, PlayDart keeps score by hand — it works with all three.
